EDUCATION IN AUSTRALIA:
They have this thing called
Enterprise Education.
What they do is try and have kids actually teach all the content areas in terms of business, starting your own business, understanding businesses, and working in businesses. Kids have a virtual business where they work in different departments like, Marketing, Human Resources etc. They then get sent electricity bills and everything to simulate a real business. read more »
- I don't like that. Education should be about exploring and learning. It's like this corporate model that NYU uses where students are the new products. How to make a dollar isn't what education is supposed to be about

- Some parents choose to do basically replicate schools at home,
but other parents unschool. That's when parents teach their children through the child's interests. They learn to read, write, etc. at their own pace and are taught different things through their own inquiry

Flight School Goals at NYU on Feb 5 2008

Imagine a study group where you don't study for tests, you don't study for grades, you don't even study just to gain knowledge... Imagine a group where you study for action, you study for change, you study to learn how to undo and redo our society. Imagine such a group in various parts of the city geared towards knowledge that acts. Let us begin. Like with everything that has ever produced upliftment in our world, it had a beginning. Join us. Let us begin.
- The goals of the study group
- The structure of the group (will two people read and present, and then rotate, will we have documentaries, will we invite professors, will we all read etc?)
- Meeting Times and Dates (once a month, twice a month?)
